The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a nonpartisan organization whose stated mission is “to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States.” It works through litigation and lobbying. The ACLU has over 1,000,000 members and an annual budget of over $100 million. Local affiliates of the ACLU are active in almost all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. There have been a number of events recently that have affected Lyft passengers, and the company is hoping to do something about it during New York Fashion Week with special Lyft codes. New York Fashion Week, held in February and September of each year, is a semi-annual series of events (generally lasting 7–9 days) when international fashion collections are shown to buyers, the press and the general public. It is one of four major fashion weeks in the world, collectively known as the “Big 4,” along with those in Paris, London and Milan.
Lyft riders can enter Lyft codes FASHIONSTANDS into their Lyft app before requesting their next ride. What will happen is that Lyft will then donate $5 to the ACLU during New York Fashion Week. Alternatively, Lyft riders can visit this Lyft site in order to enter the phone number registered with their Lyft account to activate this Lyft codes offer.
