Get ready for your Uber New Year’s Eve celebrations! Bubbly is flowing, fireworks are sparkling, and you’re celebrating the end of the year with your friends and family. Follow these tips and the only thing you’ll have to worry about is keeping your resolutions in 2016!
Check the price
On busy nights like New Year’s Eve Uber uses surge pricing to get enough cars on the road and help ensure you always have a reliable ride. Sometimes, Uber sees such high demand that the number of available cars gets tight. During this time, surge pricing will automatically go into effect to encourage more drivers to get out on the road. As demand goes down and more cars free up, the rates will go back to normal. Feel free to run a fare estimate in the app before you ride. To avoid the highest fares, head to the festivities early or catch a ride right after midnight.
Split your fare
Use fare split if you’re rolling with the whole party!
- Tap the “up arrow” next to your driver’s info and select “Split Fare”.
- Select the friends you’re riding with and tap “Send”.
- Your Uber-savvy friends will receive a message and taken directly to the app to confirm.
- Your friends without Uber will be asked to download the app, sign up, and confirm their share of the ride.
Confirm your driver
You wouldn’t want to walk into the wrong party, so make sure you don’t walk into the wrong car. Confirm your driver’s car model and license plate in the app before you hop in your ride. And if you’re still not sure, you can always text or call your driver.
Keep your number masked
If you can’t find your driver or want to share more pick up information, call through the app – your number will always stay anonymous.
Send your status
Let your friends count down to the moment you arrive. Send trip details – which includes your estimated time of arrival as well as your driver’s first name and vehicle information – to friends or family directly through the app.
