Uber healthcare and Practo is a reality. The technology company Uber and the app company Practo have today announced a global partnership which aims to make it easier for customers to reach a doctor. The service will initially roll out in four countries, India, Singapore, Philippines and Indonesia, before reaching other global locations over the coming months. Practo will integrate an Uber healthcare option into its app, with the closest Uber cab identified alongside a reminder for the user’s medical appointment. The customer can then click on the alert and book the taxi immediately. The estimated fare and time of arrival will also be displayed. The destination address – the doctor’s surgery – will be pre-entered in the driver’s app. In the next phase of development, the pair hope to automate a request for an Uber taxi, one hour before the scheduled appointment. Founded in 2008, Practo is an app which allows consumers to search for and book medical appointments and is available in 10 countries in Southeast Asia, Middle East, Eastern Europe and Latin America. The app has approximately 200,000 users and about 10 million monthly searches – it claims to be the fastest growing healthcare platform in Asia.
“We want to ensure that we follow our Patient First philosophy and give our patients the best healthcare experience from finding the right doctor to the end of the illness. Millions of users trust our platform every month and over the next 12 months we will take Practo to billions of people globally. We are using Uber’s world class technology to make access to quality health care easier to everyone and. will soon extend our partnership r into all of the new countries we operate in. Through this strategic collaboration with Uber, patients can now have a hassle free and relaxing experience when traveling to medical centers.”
